Winslow Therapeutic Center Programs offers inclusive adaptive and traditional horseback riding lessons with mounted and unmounted horsemanship skills. It also offers Summer Adventures with daily group horseback riding lessons, unmounted horsemanship skills, barn animals, games, and crafts, plus Tiny Trotters with four 45-minute classes for one tot and one adult age 18+.

Programs

  • Lessons — Inclusive adaptive and traditional horseback riding lessons with mounted and unmounted horsemanship skills. No experience is necessary.
  • Adaptive Lessons — Certified by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship. Tailored to participants with various disabilities.
  • Traditional Lessons — Fundamentals of mounted and unmounted horsemanship from the ground up.
  • Summer Adventures — 6-12 · Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-3:00 pm during the summer · $350 per week · Daily group horseback riding lessons, unmounted horsemanship skills, barn animals, games, and crafts.
  • Summer Youth Leadership Academy — entering 7th, 8th, or 9th grade · Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-2:00 pm for one month during the summer · Leadership program with work experience, cultural enrichment, mentoring, life and job skills, leadership training, and group riding lessons. Paused for summer 2026.
  • Saddle Club — 13-16 · Monday-Friday, 9:30 am-2:30 pm for one week during the summer of 2026 · $350 per week · Summer teen program with group riding lessons, outdoor activities, and team-building games. Must be an independent rider.
  • R.I.S.E. — entering 7th, 8th, or 9th grade · Program for Vernon Township youth focused on teamwork challenges, conflict resolution, horsemanship, horseback riding, confidence, self-esteem, and leadership.
  • Year-Round Programs — Includes Adult Day Program, Visiting Classrooms, Winslow’s Youth Council, educational events, and instructor training.
  • Adult Day Program — each weekday · Participants come to the facility and take part in a variety of activities that enhance quality of life and provide a therapeutic outlet.
  • Day at the Barn — 6-12 · $70 per day · Holiday breaks program with horse activities. Limited spots available.
  • Tiny Trotters — 2-5 · $160 per session · Four 45-minute classes for one tot and one adult age 18+; classes are no longer divided by child’s age.
  • Visiting Classrooms — once a week · For whole contained special education classrooms or community groups to visit Winslow.

About the provider

Winslow Therapeutic Center was formed in 1974. Its mission is to assist children and adults with physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges find strength and independence in their daily lives. The center is PATH Int’l Premier Accredited, and its instructors are PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructors. It is also certified by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship. Winslow’s Youth Council is a youth group made up of young adults ages 13-18 or those who have participated in a Winslow leadership program looking to make a difference in the community.

No experience is necessary for some programs. Refunds require doctor’s note for several offerings. Summer YLA requires an informal interview prior to acceptance. Saddle Club requires an independent rider. Some programs are paused or have limited availability.
