United Martial Arts Centers Programs began by opening its first school in Warwick, New York, in 1995, expanded to Monroe in 2015, found a permanent home in Warwick at 43 West Street in 2016, added a third location in Middletown in 2017, and opened a fourth location in Vernon, New Jersey, in 2021 after introducing virtual classes in 2020–2021. The leadership team includes Grand Master Edmund Ciarfella, who was voted one of Martial Arts World Magazine’s Top 10 Martial Arts Leaders in 2002. All staff over 18 are background-checked, lead team members for summer camp are First Aid and CPR-certified, and lead instructors are certified in CPR and first aid yearly. Facilities are equipped with first aid kits and AEDs, are cleaned daily by a professional cleaning company, and include designated viewing areas where parents can observe classes, as well as a dedicated party room for birthday parties. United Martial Arts Centers Programs offers a one-week free trial for new students, personalized Taekwondo and self-defense programs for all ages and skill levels, safe transportation from school and flexible pick-up as late as 6:00 p.m. in the after-school program, and virtual classes introduced during the pandemic. The organization states that its mission is to provide a welcoming space where families and friends connect, have fun, and create martial arts experiences, and to inspire, guide, and educate students to grow physically, mentally, and spiritually through self-discovery, cultivating a peaceful mind and embracing lifelong happiness. United Martial Arts Centers has been voted Best Martial Arts School in the Hudson Valley in 2013, 2014, and 2015, and has raised almost 1 million dollars for charitable organizations such as MDA, Child Help, and DARE.
