About

iCAMP offers hands-on activities that include drone flying, 3D printing, video game design, architecture, art and design, coding, robotics, studio and graphic art, science, filmmaking, digital and studio art, engineering, sustainable energy, circuitry, mechanics, Lego robotics, cooking, Esports, Minecraft, and Roblox. Camp days are mostly spent outdoors and include daily active summer camp games.

• Ages: 3–13 years old
• Schedule: Summer camps start on June 13th and run until mid-August, with a standard day from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Summer camp for ages 3–13 in the Hamptons starts in early June and goes until Labor Day, and summer camps for ages 3–13 in NYC, New Jersey, Westchester, and Connecticut start by the third week in June.

iCAMP was started in 2018 by co-founders Lulu and Brendan Manley. The program’s mission is to create a place for kids to learn creativity, confidence, and critical thinking through physical and digital creative tools, and it states a pledge to provide a STEAM enrichment experience for both parents and children.

All instructors have experience working with children in large group settings, have a background in project-based learning, and are recruited based on their experience and passion for teaching, with a staff-to-camper ratio of 5:1 or better. Charles has been teaching art and design at the K–12 levels since 2012 and holds an MFA in Media Design, an MEd in Curriculum and Instruction with a minor in Adolescent Literacy, and a BA in Liberal Studies with strong concentrations in Studio Art, English, and Music. Erica teaches physics, mathematics, and technological design to high school students and is a former engineering professional. Adrian Drake has spent almost three decades working in environmental protection and education, has worked as an environmental lobbyist and educator with thousands of students across the tri-state area, is a fourth grade teacher at Sag Harbor Elementary, and has a Masters in Literacy Education.

iCAMP provides before and after school programming to many independent and public schools, and after school classes take place at partner schools in NYC and Philadelphia. The program also offers before and after school enrichment classes, “mommy and me” sessions that use art and science to reinforce developing motor skills, holiday camps for every school holiday, very small virtual class sizes of three or four students, and private servers and coaches for a Roblox Video Game League.

The program has a no visitors on campus policy for in-person summer camp, takes temperatures at the beginning of the day, and wipes down equipment between sessions. Students can wash hands between workshops, are placed in small groups and sit apart, instructors wear masks and gloves, and lunch is not provided on campus for staff or campers. Under specified conditions, including if the state or camp cancels, an immediate family member tests positive for coronavirus, or someone at camp tests positive, iCAMP offers a 90% refund.

Parent testimonials describe iCAMP as having real teachers who get kids excited about learning, with one parent noting that her daughters were mentally stimulated and enjoyed themselves and that she extended from one week to five weeks. Another parent reports that iCAMP sparked a passion in STEAM for her daughter, who enjoyed presenting passion projects in a Friday gallery walk and continued using tools from camp months later. Other parents describe the curriculum as something their kids were excited to talk about each day, praise the staff as hands-on and dedicated to helping children learn, and note ambitious projects and a strong impact on their children.
