About

NCPAL West Hempstead offers day camps and recreation programs that include activities such as Hockey-Dek, roller hockey, judo, and tennis. The program takes place at NCPAL West Hempstead and includes a range of sports and recreational options for participants.

NCPAL West Hempstead is part of an organization that began in 1940 under Nassau County’s first Police Commissioner, Abraham Skidmore, as the Nassau County Police Boys Club. The mission of the organization is to operate youth clubs and provide sports, crafts, educational and other programs of a team and individual nature for all boys and girls in Nassau County regardless of race, religion, income or disability, with activities intended to prevent juvenile delinquency, steer children away from gang activity, and aid in positive interaction between police officers and youth. NCPAL operates 31 units in over 40 communities throughout Nassau County, providing sports, crafts, education, and other programs for all boys and girls regardless of race, religion, income or disability. It is considered one of the largest PALs in the nation, with 20,000 youth participating in its programs annually, and it has the largest Special Needs Unit in the nation. All funds raised by NCPAL stay in the community, and the organization receives no funding from any municipality, including Nassau County, with 100% of funding coming from donors.
