About
The Hampton Synagogue Hebrew School is part of The Hampton Synagogue, which features a sanctuary whose design was conceived as an abstraction of the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai. The program takes place on a campus that is described as a fine art destination on Long Island, with sculptures by Dale Chihuly and other works, as well as the Tuchman Family Mikvah and the iconic Robert Indiana AHAVA sculpture situated just outside the mikvah. The Tuchman Family Mikvah is described by Rabbi Marc Schneier as enjoying a special preeminence in Judaism, greater than the building of a synagogue, school, or community center.
The Hampton Synagogue was founded by Rabbi Marc Schneier in 1990, in the spirit of ahavat yisrael, the love of the Jewish people, the Jewish faith, and Jewish heritage, and the text references the 36th anniversary of The Hampton Synagogue. The Hampton Synagogue describes itself as serving the global Jewish community and as a spiritual home in the Hamptons. Rabbi Marc Schneier is the founder of The Hampton Synagogue, and Harav Yirmiyahu Katz formally certified that the Tuchman Family Mikvah is kosher and approved for use. Edy Blady serves as Chair of the Daniella Moffson Women’s Committee, and Morris “Moish” Tuchman, Honorary President of The Hampton Synagogue, and Judy Tuchman are benefactors of the mikvah project, along with Edy and Howard Blady and Terri and Andrew Herenstein. Gillian and Simon Salama-Caro donated the Robert Indiana AHAVA sculpture, which is described as a landmark gift that elevates the prestige of The Hampton Synagogue and encapsulates the values the mikvah represents.
