Sunrise Day Camp-Long Island offers a summer day camp, year-round programs, in-hospital recreational activities, and a virtual summer experience for children with cancer and their siblings. The camp includes a 7 1/2-week summer day camp and SunriseVX, a fun and interactive virtual summer experience. All programs are completely free of charge.

Since 2006, Sunrise Day Camp-Long Island has offered a welcoming, inclusive summer day camp, year-round programs, and in-hospital recreational activities for children with cancer and their siblings. The program is a proud member of the Sunrise Association, whose mission is to bring back the joys of childhood to children with cancer and their siblings worldwide. Sunrise Day Camp-Long Island states that “FUN IS MANDATORY” and describes Sunrise as children just being children, playing and laughing together, and actively seeks to create inclusive communities at camp and in hospitals that celebrate diversity and equity among all children and staff.
The leadership team includes Dani Accomando (Assistant Camp Director), Nicholas Rinaldi (Manager of Registration, Sunrise Association / Administrative Coordinator), Cindy Ariza (Administrative Assistant), Judith Jacques (Director of SunriseWALKS/Endurance Programs – Long Island), and Dr. Mark Atlas (Medical Director). A camper parent, Kelly, says, “As a parent, there is nothing more I could ask for. I have a camp where I know that my kids are healthy, safe and loved.”
