Sunrise Day Camp-Long Island offers Summer Day Camp for children ages 3½ to 16 with cancer and their siblings. It also offers Sunrise Fun-days during the school year, SunriseVX live and interactive virtual sessions all summer long, Sunrise on Wheels in-hospital activities, and Smiles from Sunrise in-person visits or FaceTime calls for hospitalized children.

  • Smiles from Sunrise — If your child is hospitalized for any reason · Staff and counselors are available to bring smiles with an in-person visit or a Facetime call.
  • SunriseVX — Children with cancer and their siblings · All summer long · Live and interactive virtual sessions; camp experience from home or a hospital bed.

About the provider

Sunrise Day Camp-Long Island has been operating since 2006. Its mission is to bring back the joys of childhood to children with cancer and their siblings worldwide. The leadership team includes Dani Accomando, Nicholas Rinaldi, Cindy Ariza, Judith Jacques, and Dr. Mark Atlas.

Open to children with cancer and their siblings. Sunrise campers can come for the entire summer or as little as one day. Children can continue treatment with their home doctors and return home at the end of each day. The staff team includes a medical director, on-site nurses, and dedicated camp staff specially trained to meet the unique needs of the children.
