YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester Youth Programs include dance and musical theater classes such as ballet and hip hop, aquatics and swimming, and both recreational and competitive gymnastics. The programs also offer teen clubs, a youth resource center, early education classes, and child care centers, along with aquatics programming and gymnastics programs. Additional activities connected to the youth programs include the YWCA Freedom School, the Y Leaders at Freedom School Summer Leadership Bootcamp, and the Girls Empowered through Meaningful Support (GEMS) program.

• Schedule: YWCA Freedom School is a free, six-week program serving grades K–5, and Y Leaders at Freedom School Summer Leadership Bootcamp runs for two weeks, Monday–Friday, 10 AM–3 PM, with office hours Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM.

YWCA Freedom School is a free, six-week program serving grades K–5 in White Plains and combines reading enrichment, cultural connection, and community building. Y Leaders at Freedom School Summer Leadership Bootcamp is a free, two-week experience for girls. Girls Empowered through Meaningful Support (GEMS) has a nearly 50-year track record of success resulting in a 100% high school graduation rate for all participants, year after year.

YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. It provides direct services, empowerment programming, and advocacy to support marginalized individuals and families, especially women and girls of color, while working to challenge structural barriers to equity. It offers supervised noncustodial parent visitation, safe exchange, children’s centers at the Westchester County courthouse, community racial equity educational workshops, and community conversations on racial equity.

For more than 90 years, the YWCA has been making a difference in the lives of women, children and families in White Plains and Westchester, and its local programs and services have furthered the YWCA vision since 1914. Over the past 108 years, programs have evolved, and YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester is one of the largest early education and youth services programs in the County. It is the oldest and largest women’s movement providing services for women and their families in its community and is the largest provider of supportive housing for low-income women in New York State and the only provider in Westchester County. The YWCA’s Women’s Residence is home to 193 women and is the largest provider of supportive housing and wraparound services for women in New York State. A total of 4,161 members of the public participated in racial justice anti-racism and racial healing events, training, education, advocacy, research, and programming.
