Akron Rotary Camp for Children with Special Needs

Akron Rotary Camp for Children with Special Needs offers several camping programs for children and adults with disabilities. Summer Overnight Camps include Children's Overnight Camp and Adult Overnight Camp, and Summer Day Camps are one of the most popular programs offered. Respite Programs are held throughout the year at Rotary Camp, including School's Out Respite Days, Overnight Respite Weekends, and Adult Weekend Retreats.

• Ages: 6–18 years old

Rotary Camp for Children with Special Needs has offered children's overnight camp since 1924 and is celebrating 100 years. For over 100 years, Rotary Camp has offered life-changing opportunities to children and adults with disabilities, including developmental, physical, and mental health challenges. Today, campers represent a variety of disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays, Down syndrome, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, blindness, learning disabilities, mental health disorders, and multiple diagnoses, and a camper just has to have a disability to qualify for any one of the programs. Day camp is offered to campers ages 6–21, and campers 18 and older can participate in Adult Camp. Akron Area Camps have been providing care and enrichment for children of all ages and abilities since 1907. There are opportunities for volunteer involvement ranging from working with children and adults with special needs to helping maintain and improve the camp grounds. Rotary Camp's 17th Annual Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, August 29, 2026, will help provide financial assistance to over 1200 children and adults with various developmental and physical disabilities, as well as mental health disorders.
