About
Ashtabula County YMCA Youth Programs include the Conneaut Outreach Program, activities for Pre-K students learning to safely enjoy fun in the pool, and access to Virtual YMCA videos and live streams. These programs use the Robert S Morrison Virtual YMCA, a pool, and a waterfront as activity spaces.
• Price: Pool lifeguards are paid at minimum wage. Waterfront lifeguards are paid $12 per hour.
For more than 175 years, the Y has been listening and responding to communities. The YMCA Conneaut Outreach Program brings the YMCA into the community and grew from the combined vision of the YMCA and Conneaut community members. The Y works side-by-side with neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. The Y is community centered and brings people together, connecting people of all ages and backgrounds to bridge the gaps in community needs, and mobilizes local communities to effect lasting, meaningful change.
Lifeguard candidates must be strong swimmers and must pass a swimming and skills check. YMCA child care programs are staffed with people who understand the cognitive, physical and social development of kids, the need children have to feel connected and supported in trying new things, and the caring and reinforcement parents and families need to help each other. No one is turned away from the YMCA due to an inability to pay. Virtual YMCA access is available for members using the barcode number from their membership card or phone app. Annual Campaign donations can be designated to specific programs such as Conneaut Outreach.
The YMCA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit social services organization dedicated to Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. The mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all, and its impact is described as being felt when an individual makes a healthy choice, when a mentor inspires a child and when a community comes together for the common good. The leadership team includes Eric Stinehelfer, CEO, and Dale Nissley, Interim CEO.
