About
Slate Run Living Historical Farm School Tours offers Farm School Tours as well as field trips for school groups and summer youth groups. During visits, costumed staff and volunteers go about their daily chores, and groups can see pigs, geese, turkeys, Percheron horses, and other heirloom animals. Visitors can tour the restored gothic revival farmhouse, including the living room, parlor, and kitchen, and watch farm staff prepare meals on a woodburning stove and tend the house, and they can also see the multi-bay barn that was built by Samuel Oman and restored by Amish carpenters.
• Schedule: Field Trips for school groups and summer youth groups can be booked by calling 614-508-8111.
• Price: Admission FREE!
The mission of Metro Parks, which operates the program, is to conserve open spaces, while providing places and opportunities that encourage people to discover and experience nature. Time has been turned back to the 1880s at Slate Run Living Historical Farm so visitors can experience first-hand what life was like on a 19th-century Ohio farm. All programs and activities at the farm resume in April after a winter season when the farm grounds and barn are open but some buildings are closed and activities are limited.
