About
Kids in College offers hands-on summer classes where children can explore science, art, languages, and history. Depending on the class, participants may paint, build, draw, decorate cakes and cupcakes by spreading frosting, piping swirls, and adding sprinkles and toppings, or focus on cartoon drawing, character design, and comic storytelling. Some classes also include storytelling along with a craft or STEM activity, such as painting story pots, building terrariums, and exploring air plants.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: Two weeks in June with separate morning and afternoon class options each week
• Price: The cost per class is $50, and some classes require additional material fees.
Kids in College is a summer enrichment program for students in kindergarten through 8th grade who are interested in science, art, languages, and history. The hands-on programming is staffed by a variety of enthusiastic, imaginative instructors, business owners, and college faculty. For over 40 years, Ohio University Chillicothe has offered this opportunity to highly motivated students as a way to reinforce the knowledge and instruction they receive in school during the academic year. If a child is registered for a morning and afternoon class in the same week, families may register the child to bring a lunch and eat in a supervised lunch room where a family-friendly movie will be shown. Registrations are non-transferable, and if a class is canceled due to low enrollment, families will be notified and issued a full refund.
