Museum Camps includes activities such as cooking, creating stop motion movies, and exploring science, technology, history and the arts through creative activities and games. Campers may dig up and identify fossils, build a roller coaster, design midway games, create bumper cars, have animal encounters, explore extinct animals in Dinosaur Hall, unearth prehistoric fossils, and explore different roles in paleontology. Other activities include imagining, crafting and engineering LEGO designs, writing LEGO design plans, exploring robotics and 3D printing, building and wiring a solar powered Mars Rover, taking on hands-on challenges in robotics, circuitry and 3D printing, experimenting to make Oobleck, making a zip line, exploring media such as paint, clay and drawing, and creating stop-motion animation movies with LEGO minifigures and bricks through storyboarding, screenwriting and filming, as well as creating, building and reverse engineering, designing rockets, traveling beyond the atmosphere, and researching the stars.

Museum Camps run when school is out, and summer 2026 Museum Camps are scheduled for June 1–5, June 8–12, and June 15–18, with sales for each camp ending at noon the Friday of the work week before the camp starts. Some camps visit the Featured Exhibit: LEGO Jurassic World: The Exhibition, and Premium camps are held at the Cincinnati Observatory. Member perks include early registration and discounted prices, and after registration, completing camper waivers before May 1 provides a chance to win one of three CMC prize packs that each include 4 OMNIMAX vouchers, 4 Museum Admission vouchers and CMC swag. Waivers are sent in a confirmation email after purchase of camp, and an active membership is required at registration to receive the member discount. Some historic buildings at Cincinnati Observatory have stairs to enter and both telescope rooms are only accessible by stairs, and families are asked to inform staff of any concerns with mobility so a plan can be made.
Cincinnati Museum Center states that its mission is to inspire people of all ages to learn more about the world through science, regional history, and educational, engaging and meaningful experiences. In 2009 Cincinnati Museum Center received the National Medal for Museum and Library Service, and in 2012 it achieved accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums (AAM). Cincinnati Museum Center is one of 26 museums accredited in Ohio and one of 16 institutions nationally honored with both the IMLS award and AAM Accreditation. Cincinnati Museum Center has worked with its collaborative partner, the Ohio Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, to protect the Richard & Lucille Durrell Edge of Appalachia Preserve System for more than 50 years. A 2026 Museum Camps parent testimonial states, “My daughter had a great time. When we dropped her off after the first day, she ran right up to her counselors and fellow campers. It was obvious that she was comfortable and felt safe there.”
