About
Cleveland Museum of Natural History Summer Camps include activities such as gallery explorations, small informal lessons, and explorations of outdoor Museum spaces, natural spaces, galleries, and classrooms. They may create a cast and mold of a real specimen, design and create museum displays, build a “collection” of their own, and complete activities that involve creating or receiving a model, craft, and/or specimen.

For more than a century, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History has inspired visitors to connect with the wonders of science and nature. Its mission is to inspire, through science and education, a passion for nature, the protection of natural diversity, the fostering of health, and leadership to a sustainable future. The Museum is a proud member of the Northeast Ohio Intermuseum Council, which has served more than 130 institutions in Cuyahoga County and six adjacent counties, and Museum summer camps feature institutions including the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland History Center, Cleveland Botanical Garden, Cleveland Play House, the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes, Lake View Cemetery, and the Baseball Heritage Museum. Scholarships are available to individuals attending schools in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, the Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District, and the East Cleveland District, with applications due by March 16, 2026, and award notifications by April 6, and all scholarship applications must include an academic review from an individual such as a teacher, guidance counselor, or principal.
Circle Sampler Camp features multiple University Circle institutions, and campers in Make Your Own Museum 1 and 2 have the chance to return in the fall to present their creations to guests. Members receive early access to summer camp and special discounts. The Museum unveiled the most sweeping transformation in its history in December 2024, adding more than 375,000 square feet of new and expanded spaces and more than 2 acres of outdoor visitor areas, with the Visitor Hall at the heart of the exhibits as a community trailhead that showcases the Museum’s most iconic specimens and is always free to the public. The Museum protects more than 12,500 acres of wild habitats through its Natural Areas Program, stewarding 65 nature preserves across northern Ohio, and it has been voted one of the top 5 Best New Museums in USA TODAY’s 2026 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
