About
Short North Muay Thai offers training in Muay Thai, Thai Boxing, and kickboxing. Classes teach Muay Thai in a traditional manner, with attention to both the physical and mental aspects of the martial art. All adult students begin with a several-week beginner course, while children may start at any point because of the small class size and high-touch instruction.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Hours of operation align with the class schedule
Short North Muay Thai was established by Kru Hope in 2005, after she returned from competing in the World Championship in Thailand. The gym moved to its current Grandview location in 2008. Upcoming adult beginner courses are posted several months in advance, and the program is best reached via email, with a several-day response time if voicemail is left.
Short North Muay Thai describes itself as rooted in the old school style of Muay Thai or Thai Boxing and as a learning center that facilitates the true art of Muay Thai through physical, mental, and spiritual conditioning. Its stated mission includes standing by old school ethics such as respecting others, showing humbleness, and being gracious, kind, and cool-hearted. The program states that it focuses on building confidence, self-respect, harmony, and awareness of the world, and that classes are structured to push each individual to higher mental and physical levels in a positive and supportive environment.
