About
Top Level Martial Arts - Kids Jiu-Jitsu Programs offers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu for children through its Lil Grapplers classes and Kids Jiu Jitsu classes. The Lil Grapplers program focuses on younger children, while the Kids Jiu Jitsu program is for older kids and teens. Top Level Martial Arts is a full-time Jiu-Jitsu facility with classes available throughout the day.
• Ages: 4–16 years old
Since 2010, Top Level Martial Arts has offered Jiu-Jitsu instruction to thousands of people. The kids’ programs include Lil Grapplers for ages 4–6 and Kids Jiu Jitsu for ages 7–16, alongside adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Sports BJJ. Every instructor has passed CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications, completed an intensive 40-hour instructor training program, and undergoes continuing education. Instructors in the kids program have earned at least a 2-stripe Blue Belt in Jiu-Jitsu with over 400 hours of training, and instructors in the adult program have earned at least a 2-stripe Purple Belt with over 800 hours of training. The owner and Head Instructor is Bill Jones.
Top Level Martial Arts states that its mission is to present Gracie Jiu-Jitsu as a tool for improving the lives of people in its community. The academy describes itself as the premier destination for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and “Your Home for Gracie Jiu-Jitsu,” with classes available for ages 4 to 104. It is an affiliate of the Pedro Sauer Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Association; Master Pedro Sauer is an 8th Degree Coral Belt under Grand Masters Helio and Rickson Gracie and was voted “Best of the Best” among Jiu-Jitsu instructors in a worldwide poll in 2005.
The program describes its culture as one where children are led by example rather than fear, and where instructors do not bark orders or treat kids as if they just enlisted. Instructors meet children on their level and set clear expectations for behavior. Adult members have compared the environment to “Cheers!” and describe it as a place to unwind, blow off steam, meet people, and train, and it is common for members to sit and talk after class.
Parents and students have shared that instructors are “amazing with the children,” “very professional, and kind, yet disciplined and structured with the kids,” and “very nice and patient with the kids.” One parent reports that safety and cleanliness are a top priority and that their child is excited to attend every week. Other reviewers mention a wide schedule, a warm and welcoming community, and describe the academy as very well run.
