Back To Basics Youth Education Center dba The Miami Valley Digital Learning Center states a mission to make the world a better place by empowering young minds, lifting them out of poverty, and providing a direct pathway to thriving careers in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. The organization started in Dayton in 2015 and mentored students after school in 2016 at Dunbar Early College High School, hired a grant writer in 2017, and tentatively scheduled leasing office space for the center in 2018. The program is growing and planning to move into a modular Computer Lab in the 4th quarter of 2026.

The Director, Mr. Lawrence Lindsey, is a retired educator and retired military member, a native of Dayton, Ohio, and a graduate of Central State University and the University of Dayton, with over 20 years in a helping profession. The leadership team includes Mr. Lawrence Lindsey as Director and Pres/CEO/Dir, along with a Program Officer. The Pres/CEO/Dir and Program Officer recently became employees, and the Pres/CEO/Dir is scheduled to transition on December 31, 2026, to become President Emeritus Fundraiser for life.

The program describes a vision as a recognized training pipeline for artificial intelligence and cybersecurity certifications and maintains a culture of mentorship with long-term guidance beyond graduation. It emphasizes faith and integrity, including instilling the importance of having a relationship with God. The center serves youth in and around Dayton, including students of Dayton Public Schools and students in Montgomery County and surrounding counties, and has partnerships with local agencies and individuals.

The organization is affiliated with the Combined Federal Campaign. It is running a Funding Campaign For Student Transportation to raise money for a down payment on a van for student transportation. All funds are currently out of pocket, they always accept donations, and they recently added a volunteer accounting student to help with bookkeeping.
