The Academy of Martial Arts Studies offers Karate, Goju Karate, Ateru Goju Ryu Karate Jutsu, Toyama Ryu Sword classes, sparring instruction, katas/forms, standing and moving basics, sparring, tournament competition, belt testing, and optional board breaking. The program includes a Tiny Tigers pre-school karate program, Karate for Kids, an Adults Program, and Private Lessons, with all classes described as age and experience appropriate and taught in a family run, family based training facility.

The Academy of Martial Arts Studies describes itself as more than a karate school and as a true Academy of Martial Arts Studies that accommodates students from age 3 and older and instills in them the precepts of Health, Education and Commitment. The facility is described as a family style environment with no big egos, where teachers are described as humble and approachable, and where the teaching style is described as encouraging and uplifting. All classes include a Zoom link for viewing by parents, relatives, and students who are home sick, and the Tiny Tigers pre-school program has no tests, with new belts awarded for time in and dedication and students rewarded at the end of class with a treat and stickers. The Academy states that it offers more choices, more classes, and more experience than any school in the area, and that Beginner Series Classes allow adult parent beginners to train on one side while their kids train on the other side with their own instructor.

The Academy of Martial Arts Studies has on-staff 8 certified black belt instructors, including a 10th Degree Black Belt Grandmaster/Hanshi with teaching credentials, a 5th Degree Black Belt Renshi with teaching credentials, three 3rd Degree Black Belts, a Second Degree Black Belt, and two Shodans (First Degree Black Belts), with all instructors described as Nationally and Internationally Ranked and Certified. Hanshi Kevin “Huunjin” Cullen, Soke, Grandmaster, Chief Instructor, and Headmaster, is the founder of Ateru Goju Ryu Karate Jutsu, has been consistently training in Goju since 1973, and has achieved the rank of Ju-Dan, Hanshi, and Soke via the World Head of Family Sokeship Council, along with multiple academic degrees including a Bachelor Degree in Japanese Language and Culture, a Masters in Business, a bachelor in Law and the Liberal Arts (Summa Cum Laude), and a Masters in TESOL and Applied Linguistics; he is a professor at the University of Findlay teaching English at the IELP. The leadership team also includes Renshi Jim Zellner (Chief Instructor), Sensei Harley Ferris (Chief Assistant Instructor), Sensei Michael Cook (Adjunct Assistant), Sensei Coy Schlumbohm (Assistant Instructor), Sensei Greg Lowery (Assistant Instructor), Dr. Alexis Caroline (Lexi) as technical developmental advisor for the Tiny Tigers program, and instructor Evan Boehler, along with additional part-time staff Renshi James Kindle and Renshi Larr Etzler. Most instructors are described as academically degreed as well as belted in a variety of martial arts disciplines.

The Academy of Martial Arts Studies is the Hombu dojo of Hanshi Kevin Cullen, and Ateru Goju Ryu Karate Jutsu is recognized by the World Head of Family Sokeship Council and 7 other international councils. Hanshi Cullen is recognized as a legitimate Soke and Grandmaster by the World Head of Family Sokeship Council in 2013, and the Academy states that all instructors are Nationally and Internationally Ranked and Certified. The Academy has been voted The Best Martial Arts School in Findlay and Hancock County for four years in a row, and it thanks Findlay and Hancock County for this recognition.
