About

Summer TUTTI Performing Arts Camp focuses on music, dance, theatre, and musical theatre, including solo and chamber music and ensemble playing. The program includes training in singing, acting, and movement, along with interdisciplinary collaboration across performing arts disciplines.

• Ages: 15–18 years old
• Schedule: June 20–28, 2026

Summer TUTTI Performing Arts Camp is led by a team that includes Ojeya Cruz Banks (dancer and professor), Brad Frenette (music theatre actor, director, and professor), Ching-chu Hu (composer, conductor, pianist, professor), Sun Min Kim (pianist, professor), Eleni Papaleonardos (artistic director at Available Light Theatre, professor), Aaron Schwartz (violinist and professor), Harris Ipock (choir director and professor), Philip Rudd (orchestra conductor, professor), Marion Ramírez (dancer and professor), Michelle Schroeder-Lowrey (theatre director), Hanna Hurwitz (violinist and professor), and Debbie Price (violist and professor). Summer TUTTI is described as an inspiring and supportive community of renowned artists-in-residence and Denison faculty members who live, practice, and work together throughout the week. The program’s mission is to offer a unique opportunity to explore the artistic process within a core discipline as well as across the performing arts. It is open to strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, piano, and composers, and participants may apply to more than one discipline (music, dance, theatre, or musical theatre) but are accepted into only one program while still taking part in collaborative activities with students in other disciplines.

Summer TUTTI Performing Arts Camp offers talented high school dancers, musicians, and theatre-makers a chance to deepen their skills while collaborating with professional artists and ensembles and peers from across the country. Guest artists and ensembles include Available Light Theatre, ETHEL, and Third Coast Percussion, a GRAMMY Award-winning Chicago-based percussion quartet and GRAMMY-nominated composer collective. Students live and learn together with high school peers from across disciplines and the country, and the program aims to show participants what a practicing artist’s life is really like through hands-on mentorship with professional musicians, dancers, and theatre-makers. The Italian word “tutti” means “all together” and in music refers to a passage or section played by all the voices or instruments, and “tutti tutti” also means “little bit” in Wolof and is used to express taking time and not rushing in learning.

Denison’s Summer TUTTI Performing Arts Camp is made possible in part by the Ohio Arts Council and is an outgrowth of Denison’s TUTTI Festival, a days-long celebration of original works emerging from collaborations among professional and student composers, musicians, fine artists, dancers, theatre-makers, and creative people across genres. One student described the experience by saying, “Summer TUTTI allowed me to make friends, meet extraordinary instructors, and most importantly, learn through an immersive and beautiful experience.” Another student said, “Summer TUTTI opened my eyes to something so much bigger than a college arts program.” Additional student comments include, “I have been studying acting and performing for over 5 years now, and I have never learned more about my art than I did in a single week at Denison,” and, “This was a fantastic experience! I learned a lot and gained confidence in my art. I also believe that I made lifelong friends from all over the U.S.!” One student summarized it as a program that “enhances & builds upon your talent combining it with the talents of others with a full well planned schedule of classes, activities, & events.” The main contact email for the program is [email protected], and the academic administrative assistant, Rebekah Lennon, can be reached by phone at 740-587-6596.
