About
Middletown Arts Center Classes & Workshops offers year-round art classes, exhibitions, events, and community outreach programs. Participants can take classes and workshops in ceramics, drawing, fiber arts, glass, jewelry, oil and acrylic painting, photography, enameling, and watercolor. The program also includes weekly classes, one-time Saturday make and take sessions, field trips, and group visits.
• Schedule: Open Monday 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.; Tuesday–Thursday 9:00 a.m.–8:30 p.m., with special hours during event weeks and periodic Friday–Sunday hours for workshops, classes, and special events.
Middletown Arts Center was founded in 1957 by the Art Committee of the Federation of Women's Clubs of Middletown. Its mission is to enrich the community by fostering creative expression through education, exhibition, and collaboration. The MAC offers an average of 160–175 classes during the year to students of all ages and experience levels, with annual enrollment averaging 1,200–1,400. Over 7,000 people experience exhibitions in the onsite galleries each year, and upwards of 46,000 Middletown citizens and visitors view revolving satellite art exhibits at Community Partner locations annually.
The gallery in the front lobby features 8–10 exhibits each year, and the Exhibit Hall hosts 8 large exhibits annually, including an Area Art Show, a Student Show, and Tomorrows Artist Today for students ages 13–18. The MAC also curates 8–10 satellite exhibits annually at the Atrium Medical Center in Middletown. MAC increased Youth + Teen Programming offerings by 65% in 2021 and provides free, family-friendly, equitable access to arts and cultural experiences through its Exhibition Season. The MAC provides learning opportunities, juried shows, and retail sales for artists.
Over 7,000 people experience exhibitions in onsite galleries at the MAC each year, and MAC’s outreach includes field trips, group visits, and partnerships that continue to expand. The organization curates 8–10 satellite exhibits annually at the Atrium Medical Center in Middletown and focuses on offering unique creative experiences to those within underserved populations as part of its mission of providing art education for all. The Middletown Arts Center is proudly supported by the City of Middletown.
The Middletown Arts Center has taken the AAM Pledge of Excellence. Its mission is made possible in part by an investment of public funds from the Ohio Arts Council, a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally, and economically.
