Youth and Adult Educational Programs at the Oberlin Heritage Center include youth and adult educational programs, tours of three historic buildings, city history walks, and special events. The program also connects participants with lectures, outreach programs, and research services offered by the organization.

• Schedule: Self-guided tours, office, and store hours are available Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm and by appointment, with guided tours offered on Thursdays and Saturdays at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm.

The Oberlin Heritage Center is a local historical society and active community-based nonprofit that serves as the community’s historic preservation organization and assists many residents and scholars with research. Its complex includes the 1866 Monroe House, the 1836 Little Red Schoolhouse, and the 1884 Jewett House with its c. 1860s barn. The organization originated in 1903 as part of the Progressive-era “improvement” movement and has maintained accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums since 2005; it is one of 42 Ohio museums with this accreditation and is also a designated facility of the National Park Service’s Underground Railroad Network to Freedom program. The Oberlin Heritage Center is currently supported by members and friends, The Nord Family Foundation, The Community Foundation of Lorain County, Nordson Corporation, an America250 – Ohio grant, a Bill Long Foundation grant, the Oberlin College Community-Based Work-Study Program, Leadership Lorain County, and Vantage Aging.
