About
YMCA Camp Kern offers activities such as outdoor games, swimming, horseback riding, high ropes, zipline tours, climbing on a 55-foot-high climbing tower, and riding two exhilarating zip lines. Campers can also hike on more than 5 miles of trails that go through woods, meadows, and along creeks, and take part in horseback riding that includes trail rides, ring work, and horse care. Camp Kern is home to over 60 horses and offers riding programs for beginners to advanced equestrians.

Camp Kern has been creating summer memories since 1910 and is one of the oldest continually operating YMCA camps in the U.S. Its mission is to unleash the potential in all through enriching outdoor experiences. As part of the YMCA of Greater Dayton and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, it is built on Christian principles and a focus on strengthening community. The camp follows a guest-first philosophy and states that it is deeply committed to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of its work, and that it does not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, age, disability, marital status, income, or immigrant status.
One parent shared that their child Elizabeth showed noticeable growth in one week at camp and wanted to return before leaving the parking lot. Another parent said their kids went to Camp Kern for the first time, loved it, and were still talking about it two weeks later, and that they plan to return next year.
