Summer Scholars Program
Miami University, Oxford Campus, 301 S Campus Ave, Oxford, OH 45056
About
The Summer Scholars Program is a selective, week-long summer experience for academically talented high school students who will be juniors or seniors the following fall. During the program, students attend valuable seminars with admission experts, participate in lively discussions, and take part in hands-on projects. The curriculum is built for active learners, so students engage in hands-on learning activities and dive deeply into a specific academic topic while forging connections with Miami faculty and peers.
• Ages: 15–17 years old
• Schedule: Week-long summer experience offered in two sessions: Session 1 runs Sunday, July 5 through Friday, July 10, and Session 2 runs Sunday, July 12 through Friday, July 17; application opens in early March each year, the application deadline is May 1, and admission decisions are released on a rolling basis beginning in April
• Price: Enrollment Fee $350; Program Fee $730; Total cost $1,080, which is all-inclusive and covers instruction fees and materials, housing and meals (two-person occupancy, all meals included), and daily scheduled activities; personal transportation to and from the program is not included
Eligibility for the Summer Scholars Program requires that students complete their sophomore or junior year of high school by June 30 of the year of attendance and not graduate from high school before the following January. Students typically have a high school grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Test scores such as Pre-ACT, PSAT, ACT, or SAT are optional, and for non-native English speakers, either a college aptitude test score or certification of English language skills is required, but not both. Students who wish to be considered for need-based financial aid must submit verification of eligibility for free or reduced school lunch along with a counselor's recommendation, and a limited number of need-based financial scholarships are available.
As a Summer Scholar alumnus, the undergraduate admission application fee to Miami is waived, and Summer Scholar alumni receive priority consideration for admission and selective programs. The program takes place over two sessions each summer, and the total program fee is described as all-inclusive for the listed items. The mailing address for program materials and correspondence is: Summer Scholars Program, Office of Admission, Miami University, 301 S. Campus Ave., Oxford, OH 45056.
