Buckeye Gymnastics has served over 50,000 central Ohio families since it opened its doors nearly 30 years ago. The program serves families from Westerville, Worthington, Powell, Dublin, New Albany, Sunbury, Lewis Center, Gahanna, Northland, and other nearby communities. Its mission states that it exists to develop the talents and abilities of its students, to support the dreams and aspirations of its athletes, and to teach the fun of physical movement as it prepares children for a lifetime of physical activity. The mission also states that gymnastics training at Buckeye Gymnastics teaches students that physical activity is fun, that children should be participants and not observers, and that instruction focuses on small steps so that an expectation of success and enjoyment is fostered.

The leadership team includes Jo M. (Director, Buckeye Gymnastics, Westerville), Laura M. (Director, Buckeye Gymnastics, Powell), Scott R. (Director, Buckeye Gymnastics, Westerville and Scarlet and Grey Team Director and Operations Manager at Buckeye Gymnastics), Jen H. (Director, BCE / Buckeye Cheer, Powell), and David Holcomb (owner and guiding light at Buckeye Gymnastics). Staff credentials listed include Justin, who is NFHS certified and certified in First Aid and CPR, and Angie, who is certified in CPR, First Aid, Communicable Disease, and Child Abuse by the State of Ohio. Teachers are described as experienced, extensively trained, background checked, and child centered, and experts who train top athletes, including an Olympian and a World Championships coach, are used to train the entire staff.

Buckeye Gymnastics is described as the largest gymnastics program in Central Ohio and the most successful gymnastics program in the State of Ohio. It has won numerous National Titles, has competed in over a dozen countries, and has traveled and competed in 38 of the 50 states. Owner David Holcomb has presented over 200 lectures at Regional and National Congress for USA Gymnastics in the past decade and received the USA Gymnastics Business Leader Award in 2002 and again in 2007. The program offers a 100% money back guarantee for new families and students within the first two weeks of enrollment upon written notice.

Buckeye Cheer Elite (BCE) All Stars is a competitive cheerleading program for girls and boys ages 18 and under and requires an audition. Buckeye Cheer Star (BCS) programs are described as a non-select recreation version of the traditional all-star team with fewer training hours, less frequent competitions, and lower costs. The Scarlet and Grey Team is a recreational, instructor-recommended girls’ competitive team, and participation in the USAG Team program is determined through an audition process held in the spring.

Gymnasts are encouraged to wear a leotard for class, with options including short or long sleeves and unitards, and they can also wear shorts or leggings on top of their leotard. If a leotard is not available, shorts with no buttons or zips paired with a t-shirt are listed as suitable alternatives. Testimonials from families and athletes describe coaches who show patience with young children, help students learn skills such as back handsprings, and spend time showing each student how to position their body to execute moves.
