About the provider
National Martial Arts, LLC was founded in 2013. Michael South is the owner and head instructor, and the leadership team also includes Adelaide South, Jake Robertson, Curtis Taylor, John Hatfield, Adam Wilkey, Mac Coplin, Bryce Snow, Sonny Smith, Jim Utley, Armando Ruiz, and Aaron Merts. The mission statement is: “To prepare better citizens to accomplish greater things, one black belt at a time.” The instructors are fully certified to teach kids and adults, and their training includes background checks, classroom management, curriculum development, and CPR/Emergency First Aid training. NMA OKC is the headquarters of the National Jiu Jitsu Association, a fully accredited We Defy Foundation Academy, and a member of the Renato Tavares Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association.

Instructors undergo rigorous teacher training. The kids striking program includes monthly homework sheets with a parent’s signature for a homework stripe. The school says it never just throws children into a group class on their first visit.
