About
AYSO Region 870 offers youth soccer along with coach training and referee training. The program also includes AYSO Alliance – Competitive Team, AYSO Alliance Tryouts, AYSO National Games, and Soccerfest.
• Schedule: On field coach training is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025, from 5:30–7:30, and orientation takes place August 11–14.
AYSO has been providing a world-class youth soccer program for more than fifty years. AYSO’s Vision is to provide world class youth soccer programs that enrich children’s lives. AYSO’s Mission Statement is to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs which promote a fun, family environment based on AYSO’s Six Philosophies: Everyone Plays®, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, Player Development. Everyone Plays® means every player on every team must play at least 50 percent of every game, and Balanced Teams means new teams are formed each year to be as evenly balanced as possible. Open Registration means the program is open to all children who want to register and play soccer, with no elimination try-outs and nobody cut from teams. Positive Coaching focuses on encouragement of player effort, and AYSO requires coaches to create a positive experience for every boy and girl. Good Sportsmanship emphasizes a positive environment based on mutual respect rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude, and Player Development states that all players should be able to develop their soccer skills and knowledge to the best of their abilities.
AYSO Region 870 notes that its list of practice locations has been used in the past and is not suggesting or promoting any specific location, and that each team must determine the suitability of a location before practicing there. AYSO is built on the power of volunteer support and brings together community members to coach, referee and support their local Regions. The organization describes a Complete Player Development Pathway that allows anyone, from toddler to adult to those with developmental disabilities, to play. It provides coaching and referee programs including quality delivery systems, quality administrative and operating systems with a support network, a strong financial position, a special network for volunteers supported by a national staff, and program research and development.
