About
Jr. Naturalists Summer Camp includes a tour of the Wildlife Center of the North Coast facility and wildlife rehabilitation hospital. Campers learn about the rehab program, predator/prey relationships, and the importance of maintaining a healthy fear of humans by minimizing interactions and eye contact with wild animals in care. The program also includes a live encounter with one of the non-releasable resident birds, where students meet Ambassadors and learn from the Bird Curator.
• Ages: 6–13 years old
• Schedule: Camp runs Monday–Friday, 8am–12pm for kids entering 1st–3rd, 3rd–5th, and 6th–8th grades.
• Price: Camp runs Monday–Friday 8am–12pm and is $175 per student for kids entering 1st–3rd grades, 3rd–5th grades, and 6th–8th grades.
Wildlife Center of the North Coast is the only wildlife care hospital in its region and specializes in seabird rehabilitation. The wildlife hospital includes nineteen outdoor enclosures and a variety of pre-release pools. The center’s mission is “Promoting compassion, empathy, and respect for all life through wildlife rehabilitation, ecological teachings, and wildlife conservation.” The organization is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit wildlife rehabilitation and conservation education center and operates under permits issued by the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife and the US Fish & Wildlife Service. Sharnelle Fee founded the wildlife center in 1997, and the leadership team includes Rehab Coordinator Ginger Nealon and Founder Sharnelle Fee. The licensed rehabber is Rehab Coordinator, Ginger Nealon. The center provides conservation education programs within its region that promote stewardship of habitats and living harmoniously with wildlife, and its programs are funded by public donations and grants while serving communities along the central and northern Oregon Coast.
