The Space

The Space offers West Coast Swing classes, Lindy Hop classes, and dance classes with Black Cat Movement & Training. Current offerings include Beginning West Coast Swing, Beyond the Basics West Coast Swing (Level 2), West Coast Swing Level 3, West Coast Swing Level 4, Teen Hip Hop, Kids Lyrical/Contemp, Adult Lyrical/Contemp, Kids Hip Hop, and Teen Lyrical/Contemp. West Coast Swing class prices are listed at $12 per class for levels 1, 2, and 3, and $17 per class for Level 4; West Coast Swing Social Dance is $7.

• Beginning West Coast Swing — All ages · Fridays, 7:00 pm-8:00 pm · $12 per class · For those new to West Coast Swing; no preregistration or partner required.
• Beyond the Basics West Coast Swing (Level 2) — All ages · Fridays, 6:00 pm-7:00 pm · $12 per class · For students confident in their first 3 basics from the beginning class; no preregistration or partner required.
• West Coast Swing Social Dance — All ages · Every Friday, 8:00 pm-10:30 pm (or later) · $7 · Included in all Friday classes; all ages and levels are invited.
• West Coast Swing Level 3 — All ages · Thursdays, 7:00 pm-8:00 pm · $12 per class · Focused on details of West Coast Swing; intended for anyone comfortable with their 5 basic patterns and some variations.
• West Coast Swing Level 4 — All ages · Thursdays, 7:00 pm-9:00 pm · $17 per class · Deep dive into west coast swing techniques; intended for students with a confident grasp on level 3 topics.
• Intro to Lindy Hop — All ages · $12 per class · Paused for the summer.
• Lindy Hop Social Dance — All ages · $7 · Paused for the summer.
• Teen Hip Hop — Teens · Mondays at 4:45 pm · With Black Cat Movement & Training.
• Kids Lyrical/Contemp — Kids · Tuesdays at 4:30 pm · With Black Cat Movement & Training.
• Adult Lyrical/Contemp — Adults · Tuesdays at 5:30 pm · With Black Cat Movement & Training.
• Kids Hip Hop — Kids · Wednesdays at 4:00 pm · With Black Cat Movement & Training.

About the provider

The Space has been open as a dance studio in Bend, OR since October 2017, and Elizabeth and James took it over in 2021. The program says it wants to grow the dance family and make dance accessible for people of all ages and all backgrounds, and it says it promotes a comfortable atmosphere where all are welcome and celebrated. It is ranked top in dance lessons for Bend for 5 years.

No preregistration or partner required for Beginning West Coast Swing and Beyond the Basics West Coast Swing. Prices are subject to change at any time. Drop-ins welcome for some classes. RSVP required for Beginning/Intermediate Adult Tap.
