• Ages: 3–18 years old
Turning Point Dance Studio was started in 2014 out of the Evergreen Ballroom. In September of 2015 they opened their first studio, and a year later they opened their newest facility. The studio is owned by Aimee Chamberlain, who is described as a very experienced teacher.
All classes at Turning Point Dance Studio are taught by certified dance instructors who follow the studio’s philosophies. All instructors are required to complete YPAD (Youth Protection Association for Dance) training, including CPR/First Aid, abuse awareness and prevention, injury prevention and response, safety and emergency preparedness, and background checks. The studio is YPAD certified.
Turning Point Dance Studio specializes in beginners of all ages and offers training through pre-professional levels. The studio offers a Student Teaching Education Program (STEP) for students to become ambassadors of the studio and learn instructional methods. The STEP program uses in-class training, hands-on practice, instructor mentoring, research-based activities, and self-analysis assignments, with a focus on building confident, hardworking, well-informed, and eager future dance educators.
According to the studio’s mission, Turning Point Dance Studio aims to go beyond producing dancers, with a culture that emphasizes self-confidence, self-esteem, passion, creativity, respect, confidence, and conscientious behavior, and encourages students to share their gifts and talents with the community. The mission states that they strive to teach more than just technique and want students to develop important skills and to share their gifts and talents with the community.
Turning Point Dance Studio was voted Best of Southern Oregon for three consecutive years (2023–2025). One parent testimonial reports that each class ends with the question, “what did you do to make the world a better place?” Other parent testimonials describe the instructors as amazing, encouraging, and focused on whole child care and education, and describe the studio as feeling like a family.
