Turning Point Dance Studio offers dance classes for beginners of all ages through pre-professional levels. All classes are taught by certified dance instructors who follow Turning Point Dance Studio’s stated philosophies and focus on dance training.
Turning Point Dance Studio was started in 2014 by studio owner Aimee Chamberlain after she had been teaching dance for 16 years. It began out of the Evergreen Ballroom, opened its first studio in September 2015, and expanded to a newer facility a year later. The studio states that it is the Rogue Valley's most trusted dance facility.
All instructors at Turning Point Dance Studio are required to complete YPAD (Youth Protection Association for Dance) training, which includes CPR/First Aid, abuse awareness and prevention, injury prevention and response, and safety and emergency preparedness. All staff have undergone background checks and have been determined safe to work around children. The studio is YPAD certified.
According to the studio’s mission statement, Turning Point Dance Studio emphasizes more than dance technique, with a focus on self-confidence, self-esteem, creativity, respect, confidence, and conscientious behavior, and encourages students to share their gifts and talents with the community. The Student Teaching Education Program (STEP) gives students a way to act as ambassadors of the studio and learn instructional methods through in-class training, hands-on practice, instructor mentoring, research-based activities, and self-analysis assignments. Parent testimonials report that each class ends with the question, “what did you do to make the world a better place?”
Parent testimonials describe instructors as caring about the development of kind members of society and refer to the studio as “much more than a dance studio, it’s a family.” Parents report that staff support students with positivity and warmth, that Aimee is an experienced and encouraging teacher, and that instructors get to know each student and encourage character, confidence, and dance technique.
