Forest Grove Dance Arts

Forest Grove Dance Arts offers Creative Movement for ages 3 to 5, PreBallet for ages 5 to 7, Ballet for ages 8 to adult, PreTap for ages 4 to 5, Tap for ages 6 and up, Lyrical Contemporary for ages 8 and up, Hip Hop Jazz for ages 6 and up, Irish for ages 6 and up, Acrobatics & Acro Dance for ages 6 and up, Musical Theater for ages 8 and up, and Contemporary for ages 8 and up. Ballet Forest Grove is a nonprofit 501-C3 ballet company with five levels for apprentice, aspirant, junior, senior, and premier dancers.

Programs

• Creative Movement — Ages 3 - 5 · Introduction class that provides a foundation for dance by encouraging listening habits and coordination skills.
• PreBallet — Ages 5 - 7 · Formal ballet class that establishes acceptable classroom behavior and teaches basic ballet skills, terminology, rhythm, and coordination.
• Ballet — Ages 8 - Adult · Foundation of dance; classes are carefully graded and students are placed according to physical development, strength, and self-discipline.
• Ballet Forest Grove — Apprentice ages 10-13; Aspirant ages 13+; Junior, Senior and Premier · Nonprofit 501-C3 ballet company with 5 levels of dedicated intermediate to advanced dancers.
• PreTap — Ages 4 - 5 · Introductory tap class focusing on rhythm and musicality using a graded tap syllabus.
• Tap — Ages 6+ · Graded syllabus of instruction at the barre and center, progressing from beginner to advanced.
• Lyrical Contemporary — Ages 8+ · Dance class that develops stretch, flexibility, coordination, rhythm, and patterns through music.
• Hip Hop Jazz — Ages 6+ · High energy class that develops strength, endurance, and rhythm with basic jazz technique and beginning Hip Hop movement.
• Irish — Ages 6+ · Traditional Irish and Celtic dance.
• Acrobatics & Acro Dance — Ages 6+ · Tumbling with balancing, strength and flexibility; acrobatic moves blended with dance steps and routines.
• Musical Theater — Ages 8+ · Focuses on dance technique, Broadway dance styles, performance skills, connecting with the audience, and telling a story through dance and facial expressions.
• Contemporary — Ages 8+ · Modern dance genre for dancers trained in ballet and/or jazz, using ballet technique with lyrical and contemporary styles.

About the provider

Patty Petersen is the Artistic Director. The studio says it has over 175 years of dance teaching experience. Its mission is to provide high quality dance education in a warm and welcoming environment and to build self confidence, teach proper technique, respect, coordination, and appreciation for the art of dance. Regular attendance is noted as an important part of dance discipline, and classes progress at every level. Purchase of teamwear and costumes is required for Competition Team and Junior Competition Team. Facility hours are Monday through Thursday 12pm to 9pm, Friday 12pm to 7:15pm, and Saturday 8am to 1pm.

Regular attendance is an important part of the discipline of dance and it ensures progress. Classes progress at every level. Purchase of teamwear and costumes are required for Competition Team & Junior Competition Team.
