About
Nelson Junior Baseball Organization offers youth baseball through levels that include T-Ball, Rookie, Minors, Juniors, and Seniors. The program also includes pre-season training, Fall Ball, various camps, tournaments, and the Hawks Winter Warm-Up Camp.
• Ages: 8–13 years old
Nelson Junior Baseball Organization states that player development in Junior baseball provides the opportunity for any child to play with youth of comparable skill and age levels, with most skilled players teaming with similarly skilled players and moderate to lesser skilled levels competing with similar players from other areas. Field size is adjusted for each of three age levels, and players learn skills and tactics consistent with high school rules, including base runners leading off, pitchers throwing from the stretch, and at most levels a live “dropped third strike.” At lesser skill and age levels, games use a per-inning run limit to keep the score and game in perspective. Nelson JBO states that it is proud to be a part of the community, and its mission is to help youth develop teamwork, discipline, fair play, an understanding that failure does not define them, that success does not last forever, and friendships that will last them a lifetime.
