About
Ash Creek Arts Center offers visual arts, literary arts, and performing arts through art education classes, as well as other classes and workshops. The program offers free and low-cost classes and also distributes free art packs to the community. Local teaching artists are hired to bring art education to Independence, Monmouth, and the surrounding communities.

Ash Creek Arts Center was founded in December 2013 and began offering classes and workshops in January 2014. The program is managed by an all-volunteer board that includes a program coordinator and several board officers and members. Its stated goal is to serve the people of Independence and Monmouth, Oregon, and the surrounding area by offering a broad range of ways for community members to enjoy and take part in visual, literary, and performing arts, based on the belief that access to and engagement with the arts is a fundamental right and an essential cornerstone to a healthy democracy. Ash Creek Arts Center is registered as a nonprofit organization with the State of Oregon and is a federal 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. It works with many other agencies and organizations, including the cities of Monmouth and Independence, Western Oregon University, Central School District, the Independence Public Library, and Partnerships in Community Living, and it acknowledges support from several public and nonprofit funders.
