About
NBC Basketball Camps at Linfield University offers basketball training that includes ball handling, shooting, passing, attacking the basket, finishing, defense, and competitive skills, drills, and game play. Campers also take part in leadership and life skills training focused on goal setting, confidence, overcoming adversity, and family and faith.
• Ages: 10–18 years old
• Schedule: Day camps run August 3–6, 2026, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, with first-day check-in at 8:30 am
Since 1971, NBC Basketball Camps have operated with the motto “better players, better people,” emphasizing gratitude, confidence, goals, self-discipline, mental toughness, building stronger families and friendships, and developing a strong personal faith. NBC stands for “Nothing Beats Commitment,” and NBC Camps describes itself as one of the largest and most respected sports camps in the world, with programs in six countries and offerings that include summer camps, fall and spring training academies, year-round clinics, and international travel teams. At Linfield University in summer 2026, NBC Basketball will offer a Complete Skills Basketball Day Camp for boys and girls ages 10–13 and a High School Intensive Position Basketball Day Camp for boys and girls ages 14–18, with campers grouped by age, skill, and experience and an approximate 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio.
Camp Director Chris Koebelin has been directing NBC Day Camps for nearly 10 years and has coached basketball for more than 30 years. He is the Head Coach for the Klahowya Secondary Girls High School Basketball program and is the winningest coach in that school’s history, with district playoff appearances in 4 of his 6 years, 1 league championship, and experience helping 2 student athletes reach college basketball, as well as coaching professional and college level players in the ABA with the Kitsap Admirals. NBC Camps states that coaches are trained to serve others, be intentionally engaged with each camper, and operate as professionals, and that both coaches and campers are responsible for providing energy, enthusiasm, and encouragement to create a positive culture and learning environment.
Leadership training at camp includes work on goal setting, mental toughness, elevating confidence, and maximizing talent, within an atmosphere that combines hard work, discipline, great fun, Christian values, and skill mastery. NBC Camps notes that its programs are for students who love the game enough to work hard for their dreams, and that its basketball camps emphasize total athlete development with a focus on skill mastery, mental toughness, and servant leadership based on talent, age, and ability. NBC also invites athletes ages 14–18 to join international tours through the NBC Travel Teams program.
The sample daily schedule runs from check-in, welcome, and warm-ups at 9:00 am; ball handling at 9:30 am; skill work such as shooting, passing, attacking the basket, finishing, and defense at 10:00 am; a lunch break at noon with a brought-from-home sack lunch; leadership and life skills training at 12:45 pm; competitive skills, drills, and game play at 1:30 pm; a daily wrap-up with spotlights and announcements at 2:45 pm; and dismissal at 3:00 pm. Campers are asked to bring a sack lunch each day, a clearly labeled basketball, a water bottle for breaks, and their own athletic equipment, including at least one pair of well-broken-in basketball court shoes, and NBC Camps states it is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Transportation is not provided, campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own, and there is no supervision before or after camp hours, so families are asked to arrange timely pick-up.
Testimonials from campers and parents mention increased confidence, supportive coaches who push limits for learning and improvement, meeting and playing with other people, improvement in endurance and shooting, and encouragement to be a better person and team player. One parent reports that their son returned from NBC Basketball Camps at Linfield with what they describe as a new attitude of hard work, a positive outlook, and a feeling of growth and accomplishment, quoting him as saying, “That was the greatest week of my life,” and another parent notes that staff encourage and teach kids to excel personally, spiritually, academically, and athletically.
