About
The Rogue Valley Country Club Junior Golf Program introduces kids to golf through a junior golf program that includes golf clinics and golf programs. Participants spend time on the course playing the 18-hole Rogue Course and the 9-hole Oaks Course as part of their experience.
Head Golf Professional Tracy Snyder leads the program. According to the program’s mission, part of the Junior Program at RVCC is not only teaching the sport, but also showing what life lessons can be learned from playing the game of golf. The program focuses on the honorable side of golf, including following the rules without a referee and officiating oneself.
Rogue Valley Country Club is a 27-hole facility with an 18-hole Rogue Course and a 9-hole Oaks Course, and the junior golf program is handled by the Southern Oregon Golf Academy. Tracy Snyder notes that the club has had a very successful Junior Program with 80–100 kids and that partnering with the Southern Oregon Golf Academy has allowed more clinics and programs for junior golfers. Snyder also highlights that having 27 holes, including the nine extra holes, gives kids chances to participate in clinic settings and to go out on their own.
Snyder describes the Junior Golf Program as a great program that gets kids on the course and gives them a chance to fall in love with the sport. Snyder also says that golf is still thriving, that many people are playing golf, and that interest in outdoor activities has increased. Snyder explains that at a private club, bringing in a younger generation through the Junior Program is important, and notes that some kids who were in the Junior Program are now members of the club.
Snyder shares that one junior golfer from the program, Dylan Wu, has come up through the program and is now competing on the PGA Tour, and that the club is excited to watch someone who started in the Junior Program now play on TV. Snyder says this golfer started as soon as he could hold a club, took lessons through the Junior Program, and that his family has long been members of the club.
