Black Butte Ranch Tennis & Pickleball Youth Programs offers tennis and pickleball activities including Cardio Tennis, Intro to Pickleball, BBR Liveball, and Drop-In Play. Youth-specific tennis options include Tiny Stars, Little Shots, Big Shots, Teen Tennis Academy, and Twilight Tennis, and families can also arrange Build your Own Clinic sessions. Private tennis and pickleball lessons and hitting lessons are available in addition to the scheduled clinics.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Lessons run from mid-June until Labor Day, with private tennis and pickleball lessons available Wednesday–Sunday from 8am–4pm during non-clinic times.
• Price: Hitting lesson: $70/hr. Private tennis/pickleball lessons: $90/hr or $45/half hour. Semi-private (2 people): $50/player. 3 people: $110. 4 people: $120. Cardio Tennis Adult: $30/clinic. Intro to Pickleball Ages 10+: $30/clinic, equipment included. Little Shots Ages 6–8: $30/player. Big Shots Ages 9–12: $35/player. Teen Tennis Academy Ages 13–18: $35/player. Twilight Tennis Adult: $35/player.
Tiny Stars is for ages 4–5 and focuses on first court experience with footwork, hand/eye coordination, sportsmanship, teamwork, and stroke fundamentals. Little Shots is for ages 6–8 and uses Quick Start balls and nets, and Big Shots is for ages 9–12. Teen Tennis Academy is for ages 13–18. Intro to Pickleball is for ages 10 and up and includes equipment. Drop-In Play includes a host to help players get organized, with balls provided and paddles available to rent from the GMRC.
The on-site Director of Tennis and Pickleball is Evan Sims, who is also the Tennis Director and a USPTA professional, and stringing service is available through him. Families can call 541-595-1285 or stop by the GMRC Rec Counter to reserve a court, rent a racket, or schedule a lesson, and paddles, balls, and pickleball clothing and equipment are available at the GMRC. Adult Clinics are for players 18 years or older unless approved by the tennis staff.
