About
Sunriver Stars Kids Drama Camp includes singing, acting, movement, and dance lessons as part of its performing arts activities. Students learn performing arts fundamentals through hands-on workshops and take part in a showcase performance of “Summer Magic.” The camp offers a completely free Children’s Summer Drama Camp for all interested Kindergarten through Eighth grade area students.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: August 4th–9th, 12:00 PM–4:00 PM, with a Showcase on Saturday, August 9th at 5:00 PM; offered as a 10-week program of education in the performing arts for the 2024 Summer Camp “Under the Big Top”
• Price: Cost: FREE; this performing arts program is presented free of charge as a completely free Children’s Summer Drama Camp for all interested Kindergarten through Eighth grade area students
Sunriver Stars Kids Drama Camp is part of Sunriver Stars Community Theater, which is in its 14th season of providing theater programming and education and is offering its 7th Annual Kids Drama Camp. The camp is under the direction of SSCT Creative Director Vreyah, Music Director Jonathan, and Administrative Director Jan. Sunriver Stars Community Theater states that it gives anyone who is interested the opportunity to shine as actors, backstage crew, and board members, and it emphasizes a positive and fun experience for all. SSCT is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit.
The organization presents quality, family friendly plays three or four times a year, hosts a completely free Children’s Summer Drama Camp for all interested Kindergarten through Eighth grade area students, and offers many other free classes and workshops. The Sunriver Stars Community Theater KIDS Drama Camp has presented “Willy Wonka, Jr. – A Musical Revue,” a 10-week program of education in the performing arts sponsored by the Sunriver-La Pine Rotary Club and The DOOR church in Sunriver, and the video of this production is available on the Stars’ YouTube channel. The program is committed to diversity, equity, accessibility, and fostering mutual respect for the diverse beliefs and values of all individuals and groups, and states that all are welcome to join and participate regardless of race, creed, color, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, economic status, or national origin.
Testimonials from participants describe Sunriver Stars Community Theater as welcoming and supportive, with opportunities to explore acting, set work, makeup, and costumes, and note experiences of working with many talented actors and directors. Individuals with years of theater experience in several states have commented on the level of the productions, and others describe becoming part of a tight-knit group over the course of rehearsals and enjoying cast parties after productions.
