About
Molalla Youth Sports offers softball, T-ball, baseball, soccer, spring volleyball, fall volleyball, basketball, and refereeing opportunities, along with concussion training for coaches. Soccer activities include weekday practices and Saturday games during both fall and spring seasons.
• Ages: 5–14 years old
• Schedule: Soccer practices are held two days during the week, with fall practices starting the first full week of August and spring practices starting the second full week of March; soccer games are every Saturday from early September to late October in fall and from early April to early June in spring.
• Price: Head coaches receive a one-time credit of up to $150 per head coach position per season toward registration fees, with the credit amount based on the registration cost and not including uniforms.
Molalla Youth Sports was started over three decades ago as Molalla Youth Soccer and became Molalla Youth Services in 1996 after basketball, baseball, and softball were added, later becoming Molalla Youth Sports. The organization has averaged between 700 and 1200 sports registrations in the last decade and has added many new competitive leagues to each sports program. Molalla Youth Sports is a nonprofit 501(3c) organization, and all proceeds and fundraisers go back into the youth sports programs. It was the first youth sports organization in Molalla and is still the largest youth sports program in the city and surrounding areas, and it picks up sports programs that could no longer be funded by the school district.
Due to Senate Bill 721, all youth coaches must complete the free “Concussion in Sports” course at nfhslearn.com, print a certificate of completion, and send a copy to the Molalla Youth Sports office to be eligible to coach. Coach reimbursement is paid by check at the end of the season after team equipment has been returned, and gear must be returned within two weeks of the end of the season or the coach will not receive the coach credit. Practices are only cancelled for lightning, temperatures above 95 degrees, or air quality above 150. Office hours are 8:30am to 11:30am on Thursdays and 11:00am to 12:30pm on Fridays.
Head coach compensation is a one-time credit of up to $150 per head coach position per season, applied to registration fees, with only one player fee credited per team and the credit split if there are co-head coaches. Sponsors listed for Molalla Youth Sports include Wilco, Boss Exteriors, Atkore, and Molalla Spine & Sport. There are opportunities for parental involvement including field painting, serving as team parents, head coaching, and serving on the soccer committee.
The leadership team includes President Zach Perez (board member since November 2023), Vice President James McLain (since October 2022), Secretary Natalie McLain (since April 2022), Executive Board Member Randy Hendrickson (since January 2021), Compliance Officer Sara Bovey (since June 2022), Executive Board Member/Fundraising lead Cory Greer (since January 2024), Treasurer Callie Ray (since January 2024), and Program Director Jeremy Joseph as a nonvoting board member (since April 2022).
