About
Balance Soccer offers soccer training for players at different experience levels. The program also runs a camp that includes soccer training in the woods of the Oregon Coastal Range.
Balance Soccer was founded in 2016 by Coach Tyler Pagano. Coach Pagano played with Chicago Sockers FC, was a 4-year NCAA Division 1 All-Conference Captain at UMass and Valparaiso, and played post-college with Indiana Invaders FC. His coaching background includes work at Wabash College, serving as Oregon ODP Head Coach, and working as a Regional Training Center Director. He has been involved with Fields of Dreams Uganda, a 501c3 organization, since 2019.
The program describes itself as the top independent soccer training crew in Portland and trains players of all ages and skill levels, from pros to first timers. Its stated mission is to sharpen individual skills and game intelligence, with a focus on confidence, grit, and the art of learning in aspiring players in PDX. The camp is described as an extraordinary, all-inclusive camp that emphasizes getting kids out into nature in a space to play and explore, with no cell phones or video games.
Parent and player feedback includes comments that Coach Tyler is described as always professional and as a motivational coach who teaches technical and tactical skills, perseverance, confidence, and decision-making skills. One testimonial notes learning tips about both the game and mindset and describes Tyler as a positive role model. Other testimonials describe the camp as a favorite camp, mention that an entire team plans to return, and say that there is a generation of PDX soccer players who will not know a summer without this camp.
