Woodburn Family YMCA Youth Sports offers basketball for ages 3–5 and for children in grades K–6th, track and field for grades K–6th, T-ball for ages 5–6, summer weekly clinics for grades K–6th, and volleyball for grades 3rd–6th. The program also includes an adult basketball league in the spring and the fall.

• Schedule: 3–5 year olds meet on Saturdays for 5-week seasons; K–6th athletes practice on weekday evenings and have games on Saturdays during 7-week seasons
• Price: Sports seasons for 3–5 year olds cost $60 per child; K–6th sports 7-week seasons cost $100 per child

The Woodburn Family YMCA Youth Sports program is led by Youth Sports Staff member Rumur Stroud, who can be reached at 503.980.2417 or [email protected]. The YMCA collaborates with Woodburn Recreation and Parks to offer youth sports for kids ages 3 years old through 6th grade. Volunteer coaches are required to complete paperwork before the season starts and are asked to devote one hour during the week for a team practice and one hour on Saturdays for games.

The Family YMCA of Marion and Polk Counties states that it is guided by the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility and has been dedicated to giving people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life the opportunity to reach their full potential with dignity for all since 1892. The YMCA identifies itself as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit social services organization dedicated to Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. It reports that 58% of its members receive financial aid of some kind and that no one is turned away for an inability to pay. It offers free family memberships to all foster families in Marion and Polk Counties, provides children from refugee families with free access to educational summer day camps, and provides over 1,300 youth with full-day, summer youth development and life skills opportunities. The YMCA also offers an Adaptive Swim Program for children who are confined to wheelchairs, a 25-session Healthy Weight, Healthy Child program, and programs such as Livestrong for Cancer Survivors, Pedaling for Parkinson’s, Arthritis Programs, and Fall Prevention programs. It continues YMCA traditions such as swim lessons, swim team, and youth sports programs, facilitates Youth in Government, offers access to free healthy meals through the Friday Meal Box Program for families, and provides discounts for military families.
