About
The Discovery School Day Camp includes activities such as kayaking across calm waters, designing forts from branches and grass, field games, slip ’n slides, treasure hunts, soccer games, camp-wide parties, and roasting marshmallows. Campers take part in sensory exploration, creative arts, music and movement, imaginative play, nature adventures, water play, backyard games, tent play, and open-ended play. The camp also offers group games in the gymnasium, team building, Circle Time, yoga, Snack & Storytime, running through sprinklers, hunting for hidden treasures, dancing at a backyard celebration, popsicles at the sandpit, skits, campfire songs, drama and music, theater games, and child-created performances that can include acting basics, script development, setting design, and costume design.

• Schedule: Weekly sessions in summer 2026, Monday–Friday, 8:45am–4pm, with free before care from 8am–8:45am
• Price: Camp fees are $450 per weekly session; a non-refundable $50 deposit per session is due at registration, applicable only to that session, with payment by check or credit card (3.9% processing fee), and no refunds after April 30th
The Discovery School Day Camp takes place on a 7-acre nature campus that includes a nature playground, gymnasium, stick village, sandpit mud kitchen, fairy house, hummingbirds hideout, chalk wall, Frog Field with a tetherball court, tire snake, benches, sandpit and rock garden, Whimsical Woods with an outdoor nature theater, Wishing Pond for kayaking and nature exploration, a Maker Space, acres of wilderness, a pond of geese with baby goslings each spring, a mud kitchen, sand lot, hiking trails through fairy woods, and butterfly gardens. Campers may spend time in areas such as the stick village, sandpit mud kitchen, fairy house, hummingbirds hideout, chalk wall, and rest time on individual mats, and older campers rotate through six discovery stations: Nature Playground (daily special), Frog Field (team games), Whimsical Woods (drama and music), Stick Village (building and engineering), Wishing Pond (kayaking and nature exploration), and Maker Space (materials, tools, and imagination). Playful Pollinators is the group for ages 3–5, requires campers to be potty trained, and does not include kayaking on the pond, while Woodland Wonders is the group for ages 6–11.
Snack and lunch are included for campers, and activities for younger children can include a picnic-style snack and story under the trees, nature adventure, water play, backyard games, s’mores-style snack mix around the “campfire,” tent play, a Playful Pollinator end-of-week celebration, and rest time on individual mats. Additional features for younger campers include a stick village, sandpit mud kitchen, fairy house, hummingbirds hideout, chalk wall, and running through sprinklers. Older campers may build and engineer with large branches, twigs, and grasses, play tetherball, use the sandpit and rock garden, and join team building activities and field games.
The Discovery School is a Reggio Emilia inspired early childhood program that serves children ages 2 years, 7 months to 6 years old and offers preschool, pre-k, and kindergarten classes, with a focus on social emotional learning and mindfulness, integration of arts as a vital part of the program, and an environment intentionally designed as a teacher with the natural environment integrated as a vital part of learning. The camp’s mission is that The Discovery School engages families, honors children as unique beings, and inspires them to explore and construct meaning of the world around them. The Discovery School is licensed by the PA Department of Education.
Counselors at The Discovery School Day Camp are trained by theater professionals to support campers with the basics of acting, as well as developing their own scripts, setting, and costume design.
