About
Camp America offers activities that include picnics, team buildings, weddings, mitzvahs, and tetherball. The program takes place at a venue that features a 10 ft zero entry pool and a dedicated tetherball town.
Camp America opened its doors in 1967 and has been running for more than 50 years. Over this time, generations of campers have grown to become staff members. The program’s mission statement is to make campers feel comfortable and welcomed into a community that respects and supports one another. Camp America has provided a place for children in the community to enjoy their summer.
The leadership team includes owners Al and Norma Levin, June and Steve Mitchell, Meredith’s husband Ollie Brown, who serves as program coordinator and year-round facilities manager, and Jenn Mitchell, who is the bookkeeper. Campers and staff are treated like part of the family, and the team greets everyone by name, asks how they are doing, talks to parents regularly during drop off and pick up, and keeps in touch outside of camp. Camp America is described as a home away from home. Taglines used for the program include “Catch the spirit at Camp America, where friends turn into a forever family!” and “WHERE FRIENDS BECOME FOREVER.” Programs mentioned by the camp include Preschool Camp, Junior/Senior Camp, a CIT Program, and a STARS Program.
