• Schedule: Program options are available on weekdays and weekends during general YMCA hours, with open times Monday–Thursday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The YMCA of Greater Erie has a history of more than 150 years and will celebrate its 175th anniversary in 2026. Its mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and offers Keystone STAR quality early learning and school age enrichment programs. The YMCA of Greater Erie is the largest provider of health and well-being, family strengthening, youth development and social responsibility programs in Erie County and is most well known locally for its competitive swim team and programs for active older adults. Erie’s first library, adult education classes for immigrants, basketball games, swimming pools, organized camp for boys, and public playgrounds all originated with the YMCA. The organization offers nine summer camp locations for school-age children and one public camping and recreation center, and it provides financial assistance policies so that no one is turned away for reasons of inability to pay. The YMCA of Greater Erie works with like-minded organizations and surrounding townships, is deeply rooted in communities throughout Erie County, and is part of a worldwide effort focused on healthy mind, spirit and body for all.
