About
Lower Southampton Township Summer Camp offers daily activities that include field trips, arts and crafts, sports, games, parties, board and card games, special guests, and watching a G-rated movie. The program also uses theme weeks such as Sports Week, The Great Outdoors, Splish Splash, Super Heroes, and Holiday Hoopla. All campers receive a camp t-shirt that must be worn on field trips.
• Ages: 4–14 years old
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, June 23–August 15, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with 6-week and 8-week options; no camp on Friday, July 4
• Price: 8-week program resident rate $1,457 per camper and non-resident rate $1,716 per camper; 6-week program resident rate $1,265 per camper and non-resident rate $1,485 per camper; $100 deposit per camper with balance due 5/1/2025; multi-child discount available by calling the office after making the deposit
Campers are asked to wear comfortable lightweight clothing with a bathing suit or clothes that can get wet underneath, sunscreen applied before arrival, and closed-toe shoes each day. Families are instructed to label all personal items with the child’s name and to keep electronics, toys, and other valuables at home. Campers bring their own snacks, lunch without refrigeration, and water bottles, and are encouraged not to share food and to avoid soda or juice because they attract bees and insects. Lost and found items are placed outside the office, while eyeglasses, lost money, or jewelry are given to the camp director. A sunscreen permission slip must be submitted with the registration packet, and sunscreen is reapplied at scheduled times during the day.
The program includes a Counselors In Training Program for 14-year-olds, with hours of 20 per week and limited space available, and it is described as the first step for a paid summer job as a Summer Camp Counselor. Camper-to-counselor ratios are kept below 10:1 and may be as low as 5:1 depending on age range. All counselors are CPR/AED/First Aid certified, complete state police background checks and federal child abuse clearances each year, and attend an orientation covering mandated reporting, bullying awareness and management, and child safety. The camp has a director, who is often a teacher or involved in education, and the most experienced counselors serve as head counselors who coordinate junior counselors and keep counselors on schedule. Late pick up after 5:00 PM incurs a $20 fee for each 15-minute period, paid directly to the counselor waiting with the child.
