Youth Alternatives After-School Programs & Children's Camp offers after-school activities that include homework help, one-on-one homework assistance, video games, board games, pool, foosball, crafts, volleyball, badminton, bingo, and both structured and unstructured outdoor games. The program also includes meal programs, education programs, camping trips with swimming, fishing, singing, and campfires, as well as skating outings and movie outings. Many activities are learning-based and include projects such as taking apart and reassembling a computer, engineering boats, creating glow-in-the-dark slime, learning about yeast and making bread, and constructing mini-catapults.

• Schedule: After-school program Monday–Friday with afternoon hours during the school year and a daily meal time in the summer
• Price: All programs are FREE to school-aged children that register with Youth Alternatives.
Since 1971, Youth Alternatives has worked with Venango County youth in various facets of their lives. The organization’s mission statement is “Empowering Youth, Encouraging Better Futures!” Income eligible youth ages 8–15 spend a week at Camp Beaumont, and the Summer Food Program meal is served from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Youth Alternatives is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that serves youth in the Venango County area, and a collaborative program called Justus Fellows works with local schools to keep 9th–12th graders in school through career exploration, college visits, and resume building. One parent with four years of experience with Youth Alternatives shared that their children come home tired and happy, talk about what they have learned, and say their favorite part is the Children’s Camp where they make new friends and memories.
The leadership team includes Executive Director Corrina Woods; Chair Rev. Barry Jenkins; Co-Chair Cindy Woloszyn; Secretary Barbara Hinds; Treasurer Minnie Fink; and Board Members Megan Hartle, Mark LaBue, and Drew Reinsel.
