About
Riverbend Nature Camps and Outdoor Education Programs take place at Riverbend’s preserve, where children explore meadow, woodland, stream, and pond habitats. The programs are part of Riverbend Environmental Education Center, which connects people to nature through outdoor STEM education and free play in nature while encouraging children and adults to take action to conserve Earth's resources. Since 2014, Riverbend’s aquaponics program has used a greenhouse as a living classroom.

Central to Riverbend’s mission is fostering the appreciation and understanding needed to protect the natural world, with a goal of getting children out of the classroom and into the outdoors to make science come to life. Riverbend reports three Mainline Nature Summer Camp locations, 13 public education events on the preserve, and a total of 13,735 people served. One field trip teacher described a visit by saying a student called it the “#bestdayever,” a former habitat intern reported gaining skills and knowledge for future work in habitat restoration and conservation, and a 6-year-old camper said it was “the best place ever” because of seeing bugs and creatures.
