Hands-on House Camps, Classes, and Outreach Programs include interactive exhibits rooted in STEM and trade careers, an open Play Lab for experimentation with a trained educator, and free-with-admission classes. Children can join art, STEM, and story classes, attend annual and pop-up events, and take part in the Free-To-Be Kids Summer Camp. The program also offers scouting badge workshops and outreach programs that bring museum experiences to schools.

Hands-on House Camps, Classes, and Outreach Programs take place in a 7,300 sq ft. facility that includes interactive exhibits, an open Play Lab, a stunning outdoor learning and play space, and free-with-admission classes. The organization is a nonprofit children's museum with a mission to foster the intellectual, social, and emotional development of children ages 2–8 through exhibits and experiences that empower children and caregivers to connect, create, and learn through immersive, independent, and purposeful play. FREE noise-dampening headphones are provided to support visits, and guests can ask staff at the front desk for them.
Hands-on House Children's Museum opened its doors in October of 1987 and later moved from an original historic farmhouse location to its current 7,300 sq ft. facility after 12 years to expand exhibit and class offerings. The leadership team includes executive director Elizabeth Gable and Board President Brad Lefever.
The program is involved in the community through networking with local schools and businesses, field trips, outreach to schools, and opportunities to rent the museum for a private event, and it welcomes volunteers including school groups, sports teams, clubs, and individuals looking to give back to the community. Testimonials from guests and participants include a museum guest who reported a nephew saying his favorite thing was “ALL OF IT!!,” a class participant whose son “absolutely adores Story Stretchers,” and a museum guest who remembers the grocery store exhibit as a favorite childhood memory.
