Meadville Family YMCA Youth Programming includes youth sports, lectures, and classes in literature, music, mechanical drawing, and Bible reading. The program also includes Hi-Y Clubs and YMCA camping at the Bousson Farm.

The Meadville Family YMCA states that its mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all, and describes itself as a charitable, community-based organization committed to providing such programs. The Meadville Family YMCA prohibits the possession of firearms or other weapons on YMCA property.
The Meadville Family YMCA was established in 1866, with the first meeting announced on June 5, 1866, and an application for incorporation dated November 23, 1866. From 1866 to 1937, YMCA Associations in Meadville did not have a permanent home, and in 1937 the YMCA of the City of Meadville purchased the Coulter property, where it has remained. A pool and gymnasium were added to the Coulter house in the early 1940s, and in 1960 the old building was razed and the current YMCA facility was built on the same site. YMCA camping in the area began around 1927 in cooperation with the Kiwanis Club at the Bousson Farm.
The leadership team includes Tina Carter, Chief Executive Officer; Stacie Hiott, Operations Director; Alivia Smock, Program Director and Downtown Membership Director; Megan Kemling, Vernon Childcare Director; and Mark Carter, Maintenance Director and Vernon Membership Director. The Meadville Family YMCA describes itself as an inclusive organization open to all and welcoming all people regardless of ability, age, background, ethnicity/race, faith, or gender.
The Meadville Family YMCA reports that it is committed to supporting surrounding communities through membership, child care, youth sports, and other programming. Programs supported by donations include a Free Dinner Program in Linesville on Tuesdays, Free Food bags for families in Conneautville and Atlantic once a month, and Free Weekend Food Bags for preschoolers who face food insecurity. Additional supported programs include youth mental health programs with an Early Childhood Counselor, a Free Summer Parks Program at Shadybrook Park, and scholarships for youth, families, and seniors for membership and programs including child care. The organization states that it focuses on empowering young people, improving health and well-being, and inspiring action in and across communities, and that by bringing people together from different backgrounds, perspectives, and generations, it provides access to opportunities, relationships, and resources necessary to learn, grow, and thrive.
