About
iCan Shine Programs offers iCan Bike, iCan Swim, and iCan Dance, focusing on bike riding, swimming, and dance. The iCan Bike program is a five-day program where participants attend for 75 minutes each day.
• Schedule: iCan Shine collaborates with local hosts to conduct approximately 100 five-day iCan programs each year, and the iCan Bike program runs for five days with daily 75-minute sessions.
iCan Shine began in 2007 with the iCan Bike program and later introduced swim and dance programs in 2015. The organization’s mission is to provide quality learning opportunities in recreational activities for individuals with disabilities and to create an environment where each person is empowered to maximize their individual abilities. iCan Shine is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code. The organization collaborates with local organizations and individuals, called program hosts, to run about 100 five-day iCan programs in 35 states and Canada each year, serving nearly 3,000 people with disabilities. iCan Shine has successfully taught approximately 30,000 people with disabilities to ride a conventional two-wheel bicycle, and about 80% of iCan Bike participants learn to ride a conventional two-wheel bicycle independently for at least 75 feet with no assistance by the end of the five-day program, while the remaining 20% make progress toward this goal and leave with family members trained as spotters. Camp locations are offered across North America, and a map of camp locations is revised each time a new camp is confirmed with a local host, with the 2026 Camp Locations map last updated April 20, 2026. Testimonials from Conyers, Georgia; Kristin; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania describe repeat hosting of the camp, changes in a participant’s bike riding at home, and experiences volunteering and hosting iCan Shine Philly.
