• Ages: 4–12 years old
• Schedule: Aug 3–Sep 4, with camp hours from 8:00am to 6:00pm
Steve & Kate’s Camp has been operating since 1980. The camp follows a model where campers choose which activities they do, whom they do them with, and for how long. The program’s mission states that, after a school year of rigid structure, summer at Steve & Kate’s gives kids freedom and treats camp as a training ground for being empowered, independent, resilient, and responsible for their own decisions.
The program includes long camp hours, with all-inclusive rates that cover all camp hours from 8:00am to 6:00pm, snacks and lunch, and any activities that interest the child, with no additional fees beyond these rates. Parents can buy any number of days and send their child to camp on any day within the season, with drop-off and pick-up at any time within camp hours. Any unused purchased Day Passes are automatically refunded in full at the end of the camp season, and Summer Pass holders receive an automatic refund of the difference if they do not use enough days to justify the cost. Campers must be fully toilet trained, able to speak up for their needs, and able to get through the camp day without a nap.
Meals and snacks are included, with cuisine that features rotating specials and healthy snacks and sides available whenever kids are hungry, and food is provided in partnership with fan favorite restaurants. Weekly specials may include giant inflatables, musical performances, movement workshops, and popup petting zoos, with the specific 2026 lineup to be announced. On the last day of camp, there is a giant end-of-summer Carnival Day with carnival games, extra treats, and chances to win prizes. Staff dedicated specifically to supporting the youngest campers, referred to as Youngest Camper Support Staff, are part of the program. Steve & Kate’s Camp also offers mentorship programs for children aged 14 and 15, with availability that may vary by location.
The camp director is Sabrina. As it gets closer to summer, registered families receive a virtual camp orientation email with information, including what to bring and not bring. The camp’s mission and approach have been noted in several media testimonials, including comments from Andrew Stanton, director of WALL-E, Finding Nemo, and Finding Dory; Apple’s Hot News; Variety magazine; The Washington Post; and the Chicago Tribune.
