Before and After School Care offers time for physical fitness, creativity, social development, and recreational activities. The program includes a healthy breakfast, stimulating activities, and homework help as part of the daily routine.

Since its founding in 1854, the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh has been operating in the region. The YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit social services organization dedicated to Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. The YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh states that it offers a continuum of care and a variety of programs, including Before and After School Care, for children and youth. The organization’s mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
Before and After School Care is staffed by experienced and certified staff members who prioritize children’s safety and well-being. YMCA-licensed locations for this program follow the PA childcare codes. The Y participates in the Keystone Stars Quality Initiative Program.
Registration for Before & After School Care Fall 2026 opens February 17th for all families, and February 16th for K-WRAP. The program offers a safe, welcoming, and enriching environment both before the morning bell and after the final dismissal, with flexible scheduling options and affordable rates with financial assistance opportunities for eligible families.
The YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh also offers an infant program built around the Creative Curriculum, a toddler program using Creative Curriculum focusing on responsive care, and a preschool program that uses the Creative Curriculum for Preschool, a research-based approach.
