YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh Summer Day Camps include activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, outdoor adventures, sports, team-building games, and themed challenges. Campers take part in specific experiences like an escape room challenge, an Eye Spy Take-Home Mission, launching colorful explosions, The Great Goo Gauntlet, and creating their own popsicle stick Cars characters. The program also features themed days and events such as dress as your favorite character day, Everyone’s Birthday Celebration, a family movie-themed event, a kindness carnival, and a family event.
• Schedule: 2026 weekly themed sessions are offered, including Detectives on the Case, Messy Science Madness, Lights, camera ... Summer!, Celebration Spectacular, Wild Animal Adventures, Pride of Pittsburgh, Galactic Adventures, and Olympic Spirit.
The program’s mission statement is: “When school’s out, the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh Summer Day Camps keep kids active, engaged, and learning—all summer long.” Activities also include an action-packed game of tag, a light the path obstacle course, high-flying straw rockets, creating a vibrant handprint macaw, a penguin waddle relay, a nature walk and hunt, Chalk Galaxy Art, the don’t drop the asteroid challenge, crafting mini torches, and a torch relay. Campers may also take home their own environment-friendly plant, design their own Terrible Towel, and join dress like your favorite Pittsburgh or local sports team day. The program notes that financial assistance is available for camp.
